Bio Penelope Jones

Penelope Jones was born in 1961 in Ithaca, NY. She received a BFA from Maine College of Art (formerly Portland School of Art) in 1984, and an MFA (in painting) from Cornell University in 1986. Ms. Jones then spent five years in Boston, where she participated in the Fort Point Channel open studios, showed her work at the Randall Beck Gallery, and had a one-person exhibition at the Lillian Immig Gallery at Emmanuel College.

In 1991 she returned to Portland, where she currently resides. She began teaching in 1992; she has taught painting, drawing and design at Cornell University, University of Southern Maine, Maine College of Art, and most recently at Bates College, where she is currently a part-time lecturer. She is represented by Susan Maasch Fine Art in Portland, Maine.
